"Have you heard this one? It'll kill you Batman!"
―The Joker[src]

The Joker is one of Batman's four most recurring foes and his greatest enemy. He has a clown-like appearance and acts like a buffoon. His abilities as a master conjurer allow him to effortlessly escape from prison, making him even more of a threat. Luckily, his crime waves often follow some pattern or theme that sometimes allows Batman and Robin to predict his next move. Joker is well-known for his skill with electronics, and was a hypnotist when he was younger.

  • Unlike modern depictions, the Joker is mostly harmless and has no special relationship with Batman as his "arch-nemeisis" or anything like that.
  • One episode had Joker committing a crime in tandem with Penguin, only for Joker to backstab his partner when the heat got to be too much for both of them, causing Batman to tell a defeated Penguin there is no honor among thieves. In the movie, Joker carries out a master plan with Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler.
  • Of all the villains of the series, Joker is shown to the most obsessed with unmasking Batman. Despite his zeal to expose Batman's true self, Joker is not one of the two villains who manage to discover Batman's secret identity. The obsession with Joker exposing Batman would spill over into other incarnations of the Joker, although with less zeal than in this series.

Behind the ScenesEdit

Cesar Romero refused to shave off his famous mustache for the part of the Joker, so there are many times throughout the series that you can see it beneath his white makeup.
